A magical evening of music, poetry and art is on offer at the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery and it’s all inspired by nature.
Renowned classical guitarist Meredith Connie will be performing her celebrated show, In the Wild, for one night only on Friday May 25th.
After enchanting audiences across the United States, Meredith brings her unique performance back to the region where she grew up. Having studied at both the Sydney and San Francisco Conservatoriums of Music, Meredith developed her career in the US for 17 years and has cemented her reputation as a leading composer, performer and educator.
Now settled in Melbourne, Meredith is excited to be returning to Coffs Harbour to share her talent with local audiences. Be prepared for a full sensory experience, taking in landscape artworks while enjoying Meredith’s exquisite guitar pieces, and her entertaining snippets of poetry and narration.
“Central to the concert is my latest work, In the Wild, a series of short character pieces that portray different animals in their natural habitat,” explains Meredith.
“Made for young and old, I take the audience on a delightful journey into the world of fantasy, from enchanted forests to classic monsters. I also include Spanish and Latin American favourites, inspired by the dance music of Havana and Buenos Aires.”
As a devoted music teacher, Meredith is passionate about inspiring the next generation to listen to music and pick up an instrument.
“This is a great opportunity for parents to introduce children to live performance and music students can gain an insight into the world of classical guitar,” adds Meredith.
The evening’s wild theme continues on the gallery’s walls, with Kerry Johns’ native forest landscapes painted en plein air, and Elizabeth Tinker’s Cloudscapes series.
In support of building the gallery’s collection, volunteer group ‘Friends of Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery’ will have drinks and nibbles available at the event.
