Documentary, directed by Katherine Aigner, 50 minutes Documentary about the compelling story of 12 British atomic bomb tests in the 1950’s, discussed by Aboriginal elders, veterans, experts and the premier of South Australia. With the building of a new $500 million dollar nuclear reactor in a Sydney suburb. The expansion of more multi-national uranium mines and the associated poisoning of the Great Artesian Basin, reflecting about the nuclear energy uses is now as important as ever.

Documentary, directed by Charles Stewart, United Kingdom, 96 minutes Between 1952 and 1967, in the largest Ti-Service operation since D-Day landings, over 20,000 servicemen participated in British Nuclear Weapons Tests. The 2011 British Nuclear Test Veterans Heath Needs Audit show that a daunting shadow hangs over the Veterans. This documentary tells that story in archive footage and candid interview with the survivors and their children.

A personal essay documentary about the tangled bonds, secret histories and unspoken traumas of family life, that stretches from New Zealand to the Australian suburbs. The Silences is an exploration of early childhood and the “silences” of the past that resonate in the present. This multi-award winning film draws upon a wealth of photographs, letters, oral histories, documentary footage and clips from the filmmaker’s previous work. Film-maker Margot Nash will introduce the film and be available for a Q&A afterward.
