How many young Mid North Coast designers are brave enough to establish a new company for a release of their designs via an established Australian company under a licensing arrangement for the international market? Well, that is just what Annie Georgeson has done at the age of 82. It represents over 50 years of designing and an incredible record in her field going back to her time learning screen printing and working with designer Florence Broadhurst renown for her hand printed wallpaper.
Annie’s awards over the years include:
1981 – Australian Design Award in textiles
1983 – Churchill Fellowship for research in wool printing, study tour USA and Europe
1984 – All Together Australian Award for woven wool
1993 – SIDA Award for Design Excellence
1993 – Australian Academy of Design, touring exhibition to Japan 1993. SIDA Award for Design Excellence
1996 – Finalist Asahikawa International Furniture Design Competition
2003 & 2005. Australian Design Mark Award
In recent years Annie has continued her design work but expanded into a range of other visual art forms with her work featuring in local exhibitions. However, design is her love with her new venture, A& H Designs Pty Ltd, featuring a multitude of designs across the themes of Australia, seascapes, landscapes, floral, foliage and geometric. They are available for license, particularly for home textiles, furnishings, and accessories.
