The rumours are true! The Bellingen Readers & Writers Festival will once again return to the Bellingen Showground over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

To say we’re excited about how the festival is taking shape is a hefty understatement. The BRWF 2022 has locked in some truly outstanding guests, the bulk of who having never featured at Bellingen before. You’ll find some of the biggest names in books, along with ground-breaking debut authors and stories that will sweep you off your feet.

The Poetry Slam is back again, and given the popularity of our Local Author Tent in 2021 we’re upping the ante by introducing our new Local Author Marquee. Our good friends at Sanctus Brewery will return with a fancy, upgraded bar area, while the best food and coffee in the land will be available right in the heart of the festival.

We’re even upgrading our live music stage for a free showcase of our region’s outstanding performers across the whole weekend.

So! Keep the date saved and your eyes peeled. We’ll be bringing you more news in the weeks ahead, including our first author reveals and the launch of Early Bird tickets. We can’t wait to see you all again at the Showground (though somehow, it almost feels like the 2021 festival only happened last week).

If you’re looking to have a more active role in this year’s event, check out the links to Billeting and Volunteer pages below. If you are a published local author and would like to be considered for the festival, you’ll also find a link to register your interest in our Local Author Marquee.

Volunteer Applications Now Open

We are now recruiting volunteers to be a part of our friendly on-the-ground festival community. (Our volunteers cover a wide range of roles, including accompanying authors around the festival, assisting in the Green Room, providing author transport, ticket sales and ushering, and much more.)

Billeting Applications Now Open

We are specifically looking for accommodation within Bellingen to allow authors to be within walking distance of the venue and the main street. If you have a separate self-contained flat/studio/cabin in your property or a separate space with private facilities within your home – we would love to hear from you.
