The round provides another opportunity for LGAs to apply for one, two or three years funding to deliver exceptional arts and cultural projects activities and events.

Create NSW Executive Director, Chris Keely said the specific LGA funding round as part of the Arts and Cultural Funding Program will deliver dedicated funding to support the production of unique experiences, events, activities and programs across local government museums, galleries, performance and arts spaces.

“Local Government arts and cultural programs are essential to a contemporary, innovative and strong arts and cultural ecology in NSW as well as strengthening our communities’ social wellbeing. This year’s funding will support the delivery of new performances and projects for audiences and the employment of artists and workers to produce these diverse and fresh works.

“In order to focus on excellence, several changes to the processes have been made, including a more streamlined application form and more time to submit applications. In recognition of the unique nature of LGAs, a Sub-Committee comprising of members from different artforms across the Artform Advisory Boards will assess the 2021/2022 LGA applications,” Mr Keely said.

Funding of up to $140,000 per year is available with consideration of funding above this cap after submitting a special request.

Applications for the 2021/2022 Local Government Authorities funding round close Monday 15 February 2021 for projects to commence after 1 July 2021.
