Our October 'Sunday Sessions' event features 7-time ARIA award winning artist David Bridie - a Wauchope Arts favourite and one of Australia’s most prolific creatives as a songwriter, composer and producer.

After rising to prominence with his early groups ‘Not Drowning, Waving’ and ‘My Friend The Chocolate Cake’ David has enjoyed continued success as a solo artist, producer and soundtrack composer.

As a producer he's worked with Christine Anu on her debut album ‘Stylin Up’; Archie Roach on his acclaimed ‘Jamu Dreaming’ record; as well as projects with Frank Yamma, George Telek, TIO, Emily Wurramara and many others.

As a screen composer David has scored numerous international and Australian films, television series and documentaries earning multiple AFI/AACTA and Screen Music awards.

As a songwriter, David Bridie tells some distinctly Australian stories, yet his influence spans beyond our shores to West Papua and New Guinea, the Pacific islands, Manus and Nauru through his mentoring work with Wantok Musik.

In 2023 David released his sixth solo album, 'Its been a while since our last correspondence' which sprang from the Victorian lockdowns, and has been nominated for the Australian Music Prize. He also travelled to Antarctica on an immersive creative project in which he produced new work inspired by the ice continent.

David has taken the time to include Wauchope Arts in his busy schedule for many years now, and we're delighted he'll be part of our Sunday Sessions program for 2024.
