Photographic Exhibition at Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery

  • 17 Jul 2024 - 28 Jul 2024

Denise McDermott & Mike Kane

This year Denise McDermott and Mike Kane present two exhibitions in the gallery at the same time. Both photographers have worked on their bodies of work for the past year and are now ready to present them to you.

Opening Wednesday, July 17 10:30-4:00. Open Wednesdays to Sundays until July 28. Both photographers will be on hand most days to discuss the works and answer questions.

This year Denise examines through photography the theme of “Emerging”. This theme depicts the transition from one state of being to another. Denise’s work in this exhibition is centered on portraits, taken outdoors and in her home studio, given an artistic treatment to enhance the feeling of the subject’s emotion. The images are a collaboration between photographer and model. The viewers can interpret the image in a way that is meaningful for them.

Shoot for the Stars
For Mike this journey started 55 years ago with the Apollo Moon Landings. It was then that Space got hold of him and would not let go.
Jump forward 55 years. He is now retired and in his late 60s. He has found the time and equipment to make his dreams come true, and capture images of “Space” that were just a dream 10 years ago.
Since starting Astrophotography his one aim was to share these images with everyone. To see a close up image of the Moon or the Rings of Saturn is amazing. To see another Galaxy or Nebula in space and other Deep Space Objects is absolutely mind blowing.
So come and join Mike in this exhibition as he Shoots for the Stars.
