Free Professional Development Series for Artists Living with Disability

This free three-part professional development series is designed specifically for artists living with disability who want to build their confidence, develop their professional practice, and create new opportunities for their creative careers.

Across the three workshops, participants will:

  • Develop a professional artist biography and artist statement.
  • Receive a professional headshot for use across promotional materials and applications.
  • Learn practical strategies for selling their artwork and presenting themselves professionally.
  • Understand the benefits of entering art prizes and exhibitions.
  • Gain confidence in approaching galleries to propose exhibitions and creative projects.

Morning tea and light lunch provided for each workshop.

Facilitated by Marc Renshaw, with Alyson Pearson and James Lander.

WORKSHOP ONE
Thursday 6th August 10am to 2pm with 2 short breaks

  • Writing your Artist Bios/Arts Statements/CV’s
  • How to price your work
  • Mail lists, contacts and Social media.

WORKSHOP TWO
Tuesday 11th August 10am to 2pm with 2 short breaks

  • How galleries work: approaching galleries about holding an exhibition
  • Entering Art Awards.
  • How to put on your own shows.
  • Choosing what to exhibit.

WORKSHOP THREE
Thursday 20th August 10am to 2pm with 2 short breaks

  • Photography: head shots, photographing your work – why a good image is important
  • Printing images to sell or use in marketing.
