The Monthlyists is a group exhibition featuring nine contemporary visual artists from the Coffs Coast region, taking place at the new MAKE/SPACE gallery in Coffs Central.

Spanning ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and live performance, The Monthlyists offers a dynamic survey of current local art practice.

Formed from a collective of artist friends, The Monthlyists began as a way to break the isolation that often accompanies a creative practice. With the aim of meeting up once a month these gatherings created space for discussion, feedback, and collaboration, ultimately evolving into The Monthlyists exhibition.

This show celebrates both the diversity of artistic practices in our region as well as the power of community in sustaining creative growth. The result is a compelling collection of new works by each artist — including a live drawing performance on opening night.

The artists explore different themes in their work, however, the pursuing of an arts practice in the same regional location is a fundamental connection.

Exhibiting Monthlyist artists are Kate Atkinson, Charlotte Craib, Chris Langlois, Fiona Minto, Nikky Morgan-Smith, Nadine Rahman, Marc Renshaw, Rachel Stone and Nickolas Wynnychuk.

Join us for the opening event on Thursday, 27 November, from 5–7pm.

Enjoy drinks by Pyewackets and music by DJs Fi Poole and Jay Black.
