Entries are now open for JOY: an art exhibition at Luminance Gallery in Port Macquarie featuring work by Mid North Coast artists under 15.
“We had great success in Port Macquarie mid-year with the 2025 Young & Emerging Artists Exhibition and Prize. The only thing missing was space for artists under 15. We’re making good on that by hosting an under 15s exhibition this Christmas,” says Luminance Gallery curator Dr Dominic O’Grady.
The exhibition is called JOY. Eligible artworks are those created by Mid North Coasters in 2025.
“We’ve made it free to enter this exhibition so there are no barriers for young artists. Entries do not have to be Christmas- themed. We’re looking for work that expresses the artist’s version of joy,” Dr O’Grady says.
Shortlisted works will be exhibited from 20 November – 24 December 2025, alongside paintings by young local artist Luke Baker, who won the Luminance 2025 Young & Emerging Artists Prize (15-25 age group).
Established local artists Rose Burke, Malcolm Harding and Yvonne Kiely will also participate in the JOY exhibition.
“Having established artists in the JOY exhibition adds experience to the mix. It illuminates some of the pathways available to young artists,” Dr O’Grady says.
Young artists interested in entering the JOY exhibition are asked to first discuss their intentions with their parent or guardian.
Submissions can be made online. All works must be available for sale.
