Do you volunteer for a community group that does amazing things in the Macleay Valley? Do you have a project idea that will support the community but you need financial assistance to make it happen? You may be eligible for a Kempsey Shire Council community grant.
Our Community Grants program offers grant funding to active community groups so they can deliver community-led projects in a wide variety of forms that benefit Kempsey Shire.
Applications for the 2022-2023 Community Grants Program are now open. They close on 23 October 2022.
2022-23 Community Grants Program
The 2022-23 Community Grants Program has three main categories and four Quick Grant categories.
For community groups who want benefit residents and establish, strengthen or implement projects that align with Kempsey Shire Council’s Community Strategic Plan.
For example, improvements to public spaces such as air conditioning installation, electrical fit outs, maintenance and new equipment.
$5,000 is the maximum amount of funding a group can receive from the Mayoral Community Fund.
Assist volunteer environmental groups with restoration works on public land.
For example, tools and equipment for weed eradication.
$5,000 is the maximum amount of funding a group can receive from an Environmental Levy Grant, with $20,000 allocated to this category.
For local sporting clubs who want to purchase more equipment or make minor improvements to facilities that aligns with the Macleay Valley Sporting Strategy.
For example, purchase a barbeque for fundraising, installing seating and shading, goal keeping equipment and minor upgrades of clubhouse facilities.
$2,500 is the maximum amount of funding a group can receive from a Sporting Grant, with $20,000 allocated to this category.
Four grant categories aimed at supporting celebrated events in the community including Youth Week, Seniors Festival, NAIDOC Week and Festive events.
For example, hosting community events during NAIDOC or Youth Week celebrations.
$500 is the maximum amount of funding a group can receive from a Quick Grant.
- Festive events – local events and programs taking place in the Christmas and New Year period.
- Seniors Festival events – local events to celebrate NSW Seniors Festival, which takes place 1 until 12 February 2023.
- Youth Week events – local events to celebrate NSW Youth Week, which is 20 to 30 April 2023.
- NAIDOC Week events* – local events during 2023 NAIDOC Week celebrations, which take place between 2 and 9 July 2023
* NAIDOC Week grants will open later in 2023.
