Article submitted by, Team Nextwave on, September 21, 2020

Calling all young regional filmmakers!

Nextwave, presented by Coffs Harbour’s Screenwave International Film Festival (SWIFF), now in its sixth year is host to Australia’s largest regional youth short film competition – and is free to enter for all young people aged between 10 – 25 years, living outside a metro area!

Nextwave has officially extended the film submission deadline to Monday, the 26th of October at midnight, giving lucky regional filmmakers an extra month to enter a film that includes the phrase “What’s Next?” for their chance to win thousands of dollars’ worth prizes and have their film screen all around the country as part of Youth Week next year!

Some awesome new prizes have also been announced, including 3 amazing Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Cameras 4Ks! These incredible cameras will be awarded to one lucky filmmaker, and Best School (one primary and one secondary) that best support and encourage students to enter films into the competition!

This adds to a prize pool worth tens of thousands of dollars, including Skullcandy headphones, EB Games gift cards, cold hard cash, and a brand new PlayStation 5!

All finalist films will be screened at the Nextwave Youth Film Awards at SWIFF next April.
