Writing NSW exists to promote writing-based culture and the rights and interests of writers in NSW.
Their mission is to make a difference to writers. Writing NSW brings aspirational, emerging, developing and established writers together as a community through the provision of a suite of writing programs and services that support, develop and promote a writing culture.

These $300 travel grants are awarded to ten writers each year and are made possible with devolved funding from Create NSW.
Early Career Writer Grants are awarded by Writing NSW to assist early career creative writers in any genre who are resident in NSW. The aim of the grants is to foster a vibrant, diverse and innovative writing culture in the state. Funding available: up to 4 grants of $5000 each (plus GST)
Emerging Writing Organisation Grants are awarded by Writing NSW to support emerging writing organisations, groups and collectives across the state. The aim of the grants is to foster a vibrant, diverse and innovative writing culture in NSW.
Funding available: up to 2 grants of $5000 each (plus GST)
The Writer & Scientist Grant is awarded by Writing NSW to foster connections between writing and the STEM sector (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The grant supports a NSW-based writer and scientist or technologist wishing to work together on a joint writing-related project that helps to foster a vibrant, diverse and innovative writing culture in NSW.
The writer and scientist must apply jointly for the grant of $2000 ($1000 each). Scientists may work in any field of science or technology, including medicine, mathematics, science, engineering or IT. Writers may work in any genre and be at any stage of their writing career.
Funding available: $2000 plus GST ($1000 each for the writer and scientist)
