A creative ageing project by the Port Macquarie U3A Textile and Fibre group. 'Creative Curiosity' has enabled them to engage local multi-media artist and tutor, Vivianne Hazenveld for a series of three workshops to expand their art techniques, and develop confidence in their art practice and in themselves as artists.
Between 10 to 12 participants participated at each workshop where they learnt how to embrace their creativity, techniques to balance composition and colour, and developed new works including collages and acrylic canvases. The workshops have been hands-on and allowed the artists to experiment with new materials to introduce and add to their textile and fibre work.
Their final session focused on individual discussions with the tutor about the works they are developing for next year’s Seniors Festival exhibition ‘Curiosity’ to be shown at the Port Macquarie Museum from 1 February next year.
