Author Talk with Kevin O’Sullivan

Kevin O’Sullivan was born and raised in Ireland, the youngest of eight children. His father died before he was two years old, and he was raised by a valiant mother. When he left school he joined a religious order, The Legionaries of Christ, which turned out to be even more wacky (not to say criminal) than the name suggests. He escaped with his sanity, or so he believes, and has written a memoir about this called A Good Boy self-published in 2022.
He has done various jobs: youth worker, teacher, data manager, barista, and has now been a therapist for over thirty years. He went to live in Australia in 1994 where he met his husband. They have been together for over twenty years.
He started to write creative nonfiction and fiction about ten years ago and took himself to various workshops and courses to learn about this. He is active in his local writers’ group. In 2024, several of his short fiction pieces achieved competition success and were published in two collections: Small Things, and Crowd Surfing.
The second volume of his memoir, called Cheaper than Therapy, is due out in late 2025.
