Jann Kesby Ceramics Annual Open Studio

Jann Kesby will be opening her ceramics studio workshop to the public to view new woodfired works. Visitors will be able to hear about the processes involved in making clay bodies including the use of local materials, how her pots are mostly thrown on a kick wheel, and how she packs and fires kilns with wood. There will be new works available from both kilns to view and purchase.

'I have been wood firing for over 45 years now. I was old school trained in production workshops when one could become an apprentice. I have always fired my kilns with wood relying on the natural ash to further enhance and glaze my works.
I have travelled to Japan and India to fire wood kilns and given workshops in Australia and overseas.
I have an anagama which I do long firings in for up to 4 days 3 nights 120 hours and a catenary arch kiln which I fire for around 35 hours.'
