Luminance Gallery is open to expressions of interest from Mid North Coast artists.

Luminance Gallery is in the heart of Port Macquarie’s arts and cultural hub, across the forecourt from Glasshouse Regional Gallery and around the corner from the Port Macquarie Museum. Within a minute’s walk are shops & cafes, bars & restaurants, bookstores and the cinema.

The gallery has a 4-metre window fronting the Glasshouse pedestrian forecourt. It has 53 sqm of interior space: two main walls at 12 metres and 8 metres respectively. Additional interior walls are 2 metres and 3 metres long.

A new hanging system and new down-lights were installed in March 2025; every artwork exhibited in Luminance is lit like a jewel.

“We’re a not-for-profit commercial gallery,” says the Luminance Gallery Director, Dr Dominic O’Grady.

“That sounds like an oxymoron but it’s the best way to describe what we do.

“We’re not here to profit from art. We’re here to provide Mid North Coast artists with additional opportunities to exhibit their work and connect with audiences from all walks. And we want to do this sustainably.”

Artists interested in exhibiting at Luminance Gallery are encouraged to work with two or three co-exhibitors and submit an EOI for a group show.

Luminance charges a flat-rate exhibition fee to cover rent, electricity, public liability insurance, promotional flyer, digital promotions, website and newsletter inclusion. The flat-rate also covers an opening night launch where refreshments are served free of charge with an RSA-certified person in attendance.

“This is one way to share the cost and benefits of exhibiting,” Dominic says.

“It’s mission accomplished if we’ve covered rent and overheads while connecting artists with audiences and enabling commission-free sales.”

Register expressions of interest through the Luminance Gallery website. The EOI tab is on the homepage at www.luminancegallery.com.au
