SPaDCO (Stuarts Point and District Community Organisation) are calling for short stories for our third annual writing competition, with the 2025 theme- ‘Tell Your Tale’.

We are seeking diverse, culturally inclusive stories that celebrate appreciation and affinity within this unique location, be it told through anecdotal narrative, poetry, or maybe a story of individual journeys, challenges, arrivals, or departures. Perhaps family, historical or community connections.

FREE entries of up to 1500 words will be open for submission from Saturday 12 April 2025 in two sections –   Adults   and  Children (under 16 years of age)

Closing date for entries is 6pm Saturday 12 July 2025

Winners will be announced at our FUN DAY in August.

-Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, one child Membership

-Trial Bay Gaol, Family day Entry

-Wild Koala Breeding Centre (Port Macquarie), Family day Entry

-Mackley Valley Farm, Family day Entry

-Steam & Cedar (Gladstone), $50 voucher

Who can enter?

Entries are welcome from living writers, composed in English language, from anywhere in the world, but stories must relate to our SPaDCO district- which includes Eungai, Yarrahapinni, Grassy Head, Fishermans Reach and Stuarts Point.

Publication

Following in the success of our recently published Anthology ‘Getting to the Point’, SPaDCO aims to collate and produce a second printed anthology which will include selected works.
