Saltwater Freshwater works hand in hand with local Aboriginal groups to deliver a diverse range of cultural programs ranging from one off events through to long term community programs.
Saltwater Freshwater Festival
Saltwater Freshwater Festival began in 2010 and is now celebrated annually during Reconciliation Week. The Festival’s mission is to celebrate and share authentic Aboriginal living culture with the wider community and create a positive, inclusive family day for all communities to enjoy. The only Aboriginal cultural festival of its kind in regional NSW, it is a true showcase of local culture, skills, music, dance, art, lifestyle and culinary talent.
Aboriginal Art Award & Contemporary Cultural Objects Exhibition
Saltwater Freshwater Arts also coordinate a biennial art award and contemporary cultural objects exhibition that was established in 2017, and continues to provide a valuable platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from the Mid North Coast Region.
The Gallery
Opened in 2024, The Gallery is an important cultural space to showcase and support Aboriginal artists from across the Saltwater Freshwater region on the Mid North Coast of NSW, situated at 8 Park Avenue, Coffs Harbour. The region includes artists and makers from the Worimi, Biripi, Dunghutti and Gumbaynggirr nations.
