Kath Riley’s exhibition of re-purposed glass and mixed media artworks is on now at South West Rocks Community Art Gallery until 15th December.
The exhibition entitled “Pastiche”, (Noun: as in work of art formed from disparate sources) is a varied and stunning selection of over 130 pieces of artwork created by Kath Riley.
The range of re-purposed glass and other items, which are fused and cold worked, demonstrates how useful and fun discarded glass can be. From paintings on glass to decorative handbags with copper encased in glass and even “food” that looks good enough to eat, there’s something to please everyone.
Kath says “In this exhibition, I have taken a journey through mediums, techniques and places.“
“From repurposed glass gum leaves, acrylics on repurposed canvas with silk thread, to glass outback sunrise, water colours and a few twisted bottles…..”
“I love the process of trying new-to-me techniques and processes and allowing my inner-child to roam free.”
Kath Riley and U3A artists are hosting a “Meet and Greet the Artist” in the Gallery on Saturday 23rd November from 12.00 pm till 2.00pm.
South West Rocks Community Art Gallery is located at Cnr Gregory and Livingstone Streets, South West Rocks.
