Nambucca Valley Phoenix is excited to introduce their new manager, Fiona Welsh. With extensive experience in the community services sector and a background in Marketing and Management, Fiona, a Bowraville local, is passionate about community engagement.

“My goal for inclusion comes out of a deep sense of the importance of celebrating unique individuals in their quest for participation and belonging—embracing a whole-of-community approach,” said Fiona.

Fiona is excited about Phoenix’s diverse facilities, vibrant programs, and the opportunity to enhance the lives of all involved. “On the site tour, the convivial atmosphere completely wooed me. I was struck with an epiphany—‘these are my people; I have found my tribe,’” she said.

The coming year is already packed with excitement including expansion of the Permaculture Garden thanks to funding from ETC activating the space at “the depot” that includes a small plant nursery, providing employment, training and skill development opportunities.

Fiona is also working with Café Supervisor Carla to expand the menu, extend hours, and promote healthy food options.

The vision supports Phoenix being on the map as a standout Arts and Tourist destination contributing to the promotion of the area and supportive of the vibrant cottage and creative industries of the Nambucca Valley.

Mark your calendars for the Phoenix Ball on 6 September 2025, with tickets available now on Humanitix.

This coincides with the Phoenix Art Prize, coming on its second edition, and this year Phoenix Gallery will also be opening up a slot in the gallery calendar for a combined local artists open exhibition.

In the meantime, community members are welcome to come and meet Fiona at Phoenix anytime.

If you are interested in volunteering, participating in the programs or financially contributing through a donation do not hesitate to come and make some inquiries in person.
