The Phoenix Art prize is open for 16+ artists of all levels of experience who identify themselves as living with a disability. They must be living anywhere on the Mid North Coast in NSW. There will be two main categories: Open and Youth (16 to 24 years of age).

IMPORTANT DATES

Entries open: 1 May
Entries close: 3 August
Artwork delivered by: 26 August
Exhibition opening & winners announced: 6 Sept
Exhibition dates: 6 – 17 Oct
People’s choice award announced: 21 Oct
Artwork pick up: 20-24 Oct

EXHIBITION & AWARDS NOTIFICATION

Artists selected for the Phoenix prize will be informed via email by 6 August and announced in social media by 9 August. Winners will be notified via email on September 4 and announced during the exhibition opening on September 6.

PRIZES

1st Prize – $1000
2nd Prize – $600
People’s choice award – $400
Youth prize – TBC
Voting for the people’s choice award will take place between 6 Sept – 17 Oct and announced on the 21st October.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

The work entered can be:

2-Dimensional: Painting, drawing, mixed media work, printing & photography.
3-Dimensional: Sculpture, ceramics, installation & video.
All artwork submitted must be original and completed within the last two years (2024-2025)
Maximum dimensions are 1 x 1m including frame, this also applies for 3-dimensional work.

EXHIBITION DETAILS

The exhibition will be held at Phoenix Gallery in Bowraville as part of Ability Arts Connect event. The opening date will be 6 September 2025 starting at 11am. Complementary drinks and nibbles will be available. The Phoenix Café will be open from 10am to 2pm.
