The Ready Set Go Youth Music Mentorship program in Macksville provides a place for young people in the Nambucca Valley to come together in a safe and supported space - where they can be creative and express themselves freely and work on ideas together, supported and guided by trusted adults.
The program engages local musicians as mentors to young people age 13 - 18 who have an interest in music and entertainment. Through regular workshops, participants build their creativity, music and performance skills whilst gaining an understanding of the different career pathways in the industry - such as performance, production, events and management.
Being involved in music and creativity has long been known to have positive effects on our mental health and emotional well-being. Research has shown music can benefit young people in so many ways including:
- helping improve memory and thinking skills
- contributing to positive wellbeing and improved confidence
- teaching discipline and inspiring creativity & self-expression
Now in its 5th year, Ready Set Go continues to provide positive social benefits for the for youth musicians, helping build their confidence, networks and connections to their local community.
2024 PROGRAM NOW CLOSED. Registrations will open in Term 2 2025.
