Entelechy Arts is a charity based in Lewisham, South East London. They produce projects which powerfully test the boundaries between art, creativity, care, wellbeing and community. Their vibrant cultural programmes are created by and for isolated older people, those living with profound and multiple disabilities, and those living in care home environments, enabling them to play an active and visible role in the creative life of their community.
Some of its incredible projects include: 21st Century Tea Dances. These events mix live music with video, theatre, dance performance, story-telling, dancing and singing all served up with tea and cake. Programmes are curated by older members of Glorious Age, members of Meet Me at the Albany and artists in the care homes programme Walking through Walls.
Glorious Age is Entelechy Arts’ theatre company, a collective of people aged 65+ who create artistic projects and performances. They have been working together for over fifteen years, devising and performing work inspired by their own experiences and addressing subjects that are important to them including parenthood and family, loneliness and isolation, and what it’s like to grow older in South London.
Theatre of Wandering: A theatrical experience through the city, where the boundaries between fiction and reality become blurred. Theatre of Wandering is a performance that draws upon a community’s experiences and reflections about what it is to live with dementia.
