People across the North Coast experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges now have access to new free creative therapy services, following the launch of the North Coast Creative Therapies Pilot.
Delivered by Healthy North Coast and funded by the Australian Government through the Primary Health Network program, the $1.03 million pilot will run until 30 June 2027. It provides evidence-based creative arts therapy and music therapy to support mental health and wellbeing across the region.
Healthy North Coast is one of three Primary Health Networks nationally selected to deliver the initiative, which aims to expand access to innovative, person-centred mental health supports. Creative therapies are delivered by qualified practitioners and offered alongside existing clinical and psychological services.
Participants can access individual or group sessions tailored to their needs, with a focus on reducing isolation, improving wellbeing and strengthening community connection. The program also includes partnerships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations to support culturally safe, community-led approaches.
