Ready Set Go Youth Music Program
The Creative Youth Council based at the Music Station in Macksville provides a place for young people in the Nambucca Valley to come together in a safe and supported space - where they can be creative and express themselves freely and work on ideas together, supported and guided by trusted adults.
Through the Ready Set Go Youth Music Mentorship Program, CYC mentors have been showing young people different career pathways in the music industry - like performance, sound production, stage & events management.
Young people gain first hand knowledge from local music professionals and are able to tap into the abundance of expertise available within our community, helping build stronger community networks. Participants come together after school, and work towards staging their own music project or event at the end of the program.
Being involved in music and creativity has long been known to have positive effects on our mental health and emotional well being. Research has shown music can benefit young people in so many ways including:
- helping improve memory and thinking skills
- contributing to positive wellbeing and improved confidence
- teaching discipline and inspiring creativity & self-expression
Arts Mid North Coast are seeking further funding to expand this program into other regions on the Mid North Coast. If you are interested in becoming a partner, get in touch with Liv Parker, Projects & Programs Manager - projects@artsmidnorthcoast.org
