Manning Valley Neighbourhood Service Validation Project

The aim of the Manning Valley Neighbourhood Service Validation Project was to validate the role women played during the 19/20 Black Summer Bushfires. The project offered the linkages needed for women to engage in health and wellbeing programming and gain direct access to appropriate support and professional services while providing a safe and supportive space for these women to tell their story and be heard without judgement.

Women Supporting Women

The Women’s Recovery Story from the 19/20 Black Summer Bushfire films was the final project of the Validation Project. Through a series of Story Sharing workshops, the women shared their lived experiences of the bushfires, and it was within this space the women realised the importance of sharing their stories to the wider community. From here, the Manning Valley Neighbourhood Service secured funding to engage a videographer to record the women’s stories, two years on.

The women’s stories are publicly available on the Manning Valley Neighbourhood Service’s YouTube channel here.
