Lake Macquarie City Council invites applications for its Lake House Residency Program—a unique opportunity to support creative development and cultural exchange in the region. The Lake House aims to provide an environment for national and international creatives to develop their practice and contribute to Lake Macquarie’s creative ecology, and it offers artists, curators and creatives the space and time to create and develop new work.
Four funded residencies are now available (2027–2028), along with ongoing self-funded residency subsidies for artists based outside the Hunter Region.
The Lake House is a fully furnished residence accommodating up to six people, with three bedrooms and dedicated space to work. It’s located in beautiful Speers Point, a leafy suburb beside Lake Macquarie—the largest coastal saltwater lake in the southern hemisphere. Just two hours from Sydney and 30 minutes from Newcastle, it offers a peaceful and inspiring setting for creative practice.
Both council-funded and self-funded programs are open to individuals or groups from outside the Hunter Region.
