Arts Mid North Coast’s latest exhibition, Portrait Artists of the Mid North Coast, showcased local creative talent from across the region at MAKE/SPACE Gallery in the heart of Coffs Harbour. Calling artists to explore portraiture in any medium, the exhibition provided space for creatives of all backgrounds, styles, perspectives and levels of experience.
The exhibition presented a diverse range of works including paintings in oil, watercolour and acrylic, as well as works in sculpture, ceramics, textiles and mixed media. Organiser Skye Petho says the availability of such a central and accessible space is a big win for artists.
“For many artists, Portrait Artists of the Mid North Coast was a chance to place their work infront of new audiences, to gain experience and confidence in the exhibition process, and to connect with our wider arts community,” says Ms Petho.
The exhibition capitalised on the central location and steady foot traffic – provided via the generosity of Gowings Pacific Shopping Centres – with a steady flow of visitors and several artwork sales.
Portrait Artists of the Mid North Coast coincided with both the touring Archibald 2025 exhibition at Yarilla Arts and Museum, and a sold-out workshop series with nationally acclaimed portrait artist Daniel Butterworth, hosted by AMNC.
