OneMusic offers licensing solutions for events using copyrighted music in Australia, ensuring compliance with legal requirements while supporting music creators. Licences are required for events like concerts, festivals, markets, parades, food and wine events, and more. These licences cover music controlled by APRA and PPCA, including live performances, recorded tracks, and music videos, excluding sporting or political events and “Dramatic Context” uses.
Organisers need a licence as a legal requirement and to show respect for the music industry. Without OneMusic, they’d have to get permission from each rights holder individually. Licence fees collected are distributed as royalties to artists, songwriters, and labels, with over 89,000 Australian creators benefiting last year.
There are four main event licence types:
- Ticketed Music Events
- Eligible Temporary Music Events
- Ticketed Special Purpose Performances
- General Entertainment & Free Music Events
Fees differ depending on the event type and whether both APRA Works and PPCA Sound Recordings are used. Event organisers can apply by contacting OneMusic or submitting an enquiry form.
