Budding artists between the ages of 5 and 18 living on the Mid North Coast are invited to submit a portrait for the Young Archie competition, as part of our family-focused activities for the Archibald Prize 2023 regional tour.
Students can submit artwork independently or as part of a school submission. Entries from schools are welcomed. However, due to numbers, we strongly encourage you to first run your own internal competition and submit only your top works (up to 10) into the official Young Archie competition.
The competition will be judged by the Glasshouse Regional Gallery Curator, Bridget Purtill, and a Coastline Credit Union representative. Artworks will be judged on merit and originality.
Five finalists from each age category will be exhibited at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery and on our website. One winner will be chosen in each category. Each winner will receive prizes provided by AGNSW & Coastline Credit Union.
The portrait should be of a person who is special to the student – someone who is known to them and plays a significant role in their life.
The four age categories are:
5-8 | 9-12 | 13-15 | 16-18
