Our Rivers Our History

Today our museums reveal so many stories and the heritage of the Mid North Coast including our rivers and maritime history. They hold many objects, each a fascinating testimony to the lives of local people and communities.

You can explore these by visiting our museums or by taking a journey through our multi award-winning online exhibition, Our Rivers Our History at www.oroh.com.au

This innovative online exhibition won a Museums and Galleries National Award (MAGNA) for permanent exhibitions and a NSW  IMAGinE  Award. It may also inspire you to get out and explore the related River Trails and  provide the opportunity of creating your own memories to last a lifetime.

Mid Coast Stories

Another great source of local stories can be found at https://midcoaststories.com/stories

This is a comprehensive collection of stories, images and local resources that preserve and promotes the unique history of the Gloucester, Great Lakes and Manning regions of NSW.

The stories are intentionally short, factual and often quirky, describing the people, places, and events that have influenced the region. Mid Coast Stories was a winner in the 2019 National Trust Heritage Awards.

A great introduction to getting out and exploring these treasures.

Tourist Paradise

Arts Mid North Coast supported The Port Macquarie Museum in the development of its newest online exhibition and digital story telling project 'Tourists Paradise' touristsparadise.com.au.

As a place of happy memories for generations of holiday makers, Port Macquarie has had a long and rich tourism history. The new exhibition creates an innovative and exciting visual experience for the museum's increasing online audiences, and give them an opportunity to share their holiday memories and experiences through social media, using the hashtag #portmacquarietouristsparadise.
